Even more interesting...I've just discovered that WXRV has blocked me from writing or liking any comments on their Wall. They also removed my "Like" on their page. Obviously they don't like it when people don't like that they've done something incredibly stupid, like firing their best deejay!

I agree, and really wonder what is behind it. If anyone has any info, please leave it here. As I wrote in the story, BBTR was probably the best commercial radio station program out there. Another reason why commercial radio really sucks. It's really too bad.

And how VERY sad that WXRV Management decided to fire Lisa this past Friday during her mid-morning/afternoon show. SHAME on them/him. Just proves their management/owner is as dumb as many people have written about. They've lost the heart and soul of their station. Hopefully Lisa will land some place locally and can continue her Brunch show. Meanwhile, a fan page has been set up on Facebook and Lisa has joined us. She'll be linking a few tunes for us there next Sunday morning. http://www.facebook.com/LisaGarveyFanPage

I wrote and publish "Too Long at the Fair," originally recorded by Bonnie Raitt. While I appreciate your posting the lyrics, THE LYRICS YOU HAVE POSTED CONTAIN SERIOUS ERRORS. THOSE WHO HAVE USED THE LYRICS YOU HAVE POSTED HAVE MADE SERIOUS ERRORS. Please replace the lyrics you have posted in their entirety with the correct lyrics, which I am pasting in below. Thank you! My best, Joel Zoss

HERE ARE THE CORRECT LYRICS:

TOO LONG AT THE FAIR

Jesus cried, wept and died
I guess he went up to heaven
I've been downtown such a long long time
I'll never make it home by seven
Won't you come and take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And Lord I just can't stand it anymore

I went down to Jason's
Walked till my feet were sore
But I never knew what laughing was
Till you walked out the door
Won't you come and take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And Lord I just can't stand it anymore

You can give my soul to Abraham
You can give my soul to Saul
And give my bones to Canada
My teeth they don't hurt at all
I don't know who made the highway
But I guess that's just my pride
And I have heard the Prince of Darkness
On his charger ride

The silver blade is gleaming
The scales are in his hand
I swear the night is falling
Don't you lose another man
Won't you come and take me home
I've been too long at the fair
And Lord I just can't stand it anymore
And Lord I just can't stand it anymore

Thank you so much for writing this letter. You have eloquently set forth the plea that so many of us experienced concert-goers think, but have not expressed in such a funny yet truthful way. My wife and I recently saw Ryan Adams (solo) at the Orpheum Theatre, and I was so ticked off when he started the show and the jibber-jabber drowned out the entire first song; less eloquently, I uttered for all within earshot to hear, "Are people going to shut the f--- up, or what?" I momentarily thought about walking out. Ryan seemed to recognize the frustration, as he graciously replayed the opening tune several songs later. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience at the Newport Folk Festival, as people inexplicably jabbered throughout Gillian and Dave's set. The hopelessly narcissistic generation that it is our misfortune to share space with needs to learn one simple fact: the concert is not about you and your friends, so SHUT UP when the artist is playing."

Nice recap, Rich! The early start time was so incredibly odd but the boys always pull off a great show. I feel the same way about BT as you. The guy I was hanging with used to manage an artist who had previously toured w/them and he aid BT only had 3 good songs -- ouch! I really wish Dawes had played last that night because I just think they are better and would have loved to have seen a longer set. I guess I can just relive the epic Iron Horse show until they come back and truly headline with no co-headliner. Thanks for the pics too!

I saw Dawes and Blitzen Trapper at Newport Folk. I'd have to agree with you... Dawes has more staying appeal to my ears....the Jackson Browne influence and vocals stand out on the CD. I wish I had been able to see this show...but you know where I am on Friday nights.
